4. Brazil vote approaches

  • With the October 26th second round run-off vote looming, polls in Brazil suggest a tight race.
  • A poll commissioned by Brazil's Transport Confederation released on Monday showed incumbent Dilma Rousseff on 45.5 per cent and her challenger Aecio Neves on 44.5 per cent.
  • Rousseff's lead is well within the margin of error of 2.2 per cent (Reuters). 
  • Rousseff's Workers Party has been hit by scandal over embezzlement at state owned oil giant Petrobras.
