5. Dilma Rousseff projected as likely winner in Brazil election

  • Incumbent President Rousseff expected to win 1st round vote in Sunday's Brazilian election following hard fought campaign.
  • Workers Party leader Rousseff expected to be re-elected following 2nd round run-off against either Aecio Neves or Marina Silva. 
  • Rousseff has been polling between 42 and 47 per cent in surveys conducted since late September, Socialist candidate Silva steadily losing momentum. 
  • Run-off will be held between top two candidates on October 26th if no candidate achieves an outright majority in Sunday's vote.
