Colombia suspends rebel peace talks

  • Colombian government has suspended talks with FARC rebel group after the kidnapping of an army general.
  • Army officials believe General Alzate Mora and two others were taken by rebels in Choco province on Sunday as they travelled along a river to inspect an energy project. 
  • General was apparently dressed in civilian clothes; rebels may not have known he was in the army. 
  • President Juan Manuel Santos said on Twitter that all indications were that FARC were behind the abductions.
