Economic Essentials: U.S growth beats forecast

  • U.S GDP for the third quarter beat analysts estimates with growth revised up to 3.9 per cent. 
  • Bank of Japan minutes reveal that Governor Haruhiko Kuroda faced significant opposition from board members over decision to expand BoJ easing programme; Kuroda won a 5-4 vote on the measure. 
  • OECD says that a stronger policy response is needed to avoid risks to growth, particularly in the euro zone, in newly released economic outlook. 
  • The Irish Fiscal Advisory Council says latest government budget was marked by 'an absence of a well-specified plan for the public finances beyond 2015'.
