Burkina Faso and French troops have regained control of a hotel in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou after it was attacked by militants supposedly from Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.
At least 20 people are said to have died in the assault on the Spledid Hotel and the nearby Cappuccino Cafe - Gilles Thibault, the French Ambassador to Burkina Faso, said 27 people had lost their lives in the attack. *
AQIM also claimed a similar attack in the Malian capital Bamako in November last year in which 19 people were killed. +
