Australia announces new emissions targets

Obama unveils 'Clean Power Plan'

  • The 'Clean Power Plan', which is already facing pushback from leading Republicans, proposes reducing carbon pollution from American power plants to 32 percent below 2005 levels by 2030. 



June 2015 was the warmest June since records began in 1880

  • That is the finding of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which says in its global analysis for June that temperatures were 0.88°C above the 20th century average of 15.5°C. 

  • The July 2014-June 2015 period was found to be the warmest 12 month period on record.
