Space X, the Elon Musk headed commercial space firm, successfully launched a new ocean satellite on Sunday but failed in its attempt to land the rocket used to propel the satellite into orbit back on Earth.
The Falcon 9 rocket hit its target, a drone barge in the Pacific Ocean, but suffered a hard landing and broke its standing leg.
The drone barge is called 'Just Read The Instructions'.

Speaking at an industry event in California on Monday, Space X president Gwynne Shotwell said the company was taking 'more time than we originally envisioned' to carry out another launch of the unmanned Falcon 9 space rocket, which exploded two minutes after a launch in June with over $100 worth of cargo on board.

Exoplanet HD 219134b is the closest rocky planet outside of our solar system according to NASA - it is 21,000 lightyears away and orbits too close to its star to sustain life.
The discovery was confirmed using the Spitzer Telescope.
