U.S jobs report for September disappoints as global slowdown hits home 

  • The U.S economy aded 142,000 jobs in September, with the unemployment rate unchanged at 5.1% according to figures released on Friday. 

  • The non-farm payroll adds figure was below market expectations, with the downward revision of August's jobs report adding to the downbeat tone.

U.S unemployment rate falls in August


  • The U.S economy aded 173,000 jobs in August, with the unemployment rate dropping to 5.1% from 5.3% in July according to figures released on Friday September 5th. 

Spanish unemployment rate drops

  • The unemployment rate in Spain fell from 23.8 percent in the first quarter to 22.4 percent in the second quarter with 295,600 less people unemployed. 

  • The biggest drop in unemployment for the quarter was in the Andalusian region, where unemployment fell by 98,700 people. 

For the first time in two years, UK unemployment rose in quarter to May

  • The number of unemployed people increased by 15,000 to 1.85 million, the first quarterly increase since the first quarter of 2013. 

  • The unemployment rate rose slightly, from 5.5 to 5.6 per cent. 

  • Total pay for employees in Britain rose 3.2 per cent year on year.
